Let's Paint! Saturday, June 7th, 9am

It's time to paint! Join us to paint the intersection of 22nd St and Harris Ave. We'll paint the city and neighborhood approved design, starting at 9am. Come and help us paint. We'll have some coffee and treats available, and around lunch time we'll fire up the grill (so bring something to grill and something to share). We hope to be done painting around 1pm, and cleaned up by 3pm. Invite a neighbor to join you, everyone is welcome. Thanks to Happy Valley Community Crossroads for organizing, and The Table church and the Happy Valley Neighborhood Association for sponsoring.

If at First You Don't Succeed...

Due to a wet canvas (the street), the mural painting was canceled on Saturday. It was a good decision, as the rain continued throughout the day. We are a bit bummed, but are looking forward to a sunny day soon when we can paint together as a community. Stay tuned for the rescheduled day.

DATE SET! May 3rd Paint Day!

We are pleased to announce that the Happy Valley Community Crossroads street mural project is set to paint Saturday May 3rd! Weather permitting, we will gather neighbors that day to paint the city and neighbor approved mural at the corner of 22nd St. and Harris Ave. The paint has been ordered, the proper city permits acquired, and now it's time to get the word out. Let everyone you know about the May 3rd paint day, and stay tuned for more details about the day.

We are going to host a BBQ on Saturday, February 15th, from 1pm – 3pm on the back lawn of the Firehouse PAC (1314 Harris Ave.). Bring something to grill and something to share. We’ll talk about the project, and tentative dates, and you can learn how you can help. Invite a friend and join us.

Green Lights a Go!

Good news! The mayor and the city’s art commission gave us “the green light” for our intersection art project. The design submitted by Fairhaven Middle School student Willow Hughes, won neighborhood and city approval. After approval Willow said, “I’m very excited about my art being chosen for the Happy Valley Community Crossroad project. Now a piece of my art can be presented to everyone, those who live in the Happy Valley neighborhood and others. I’m also excited that something I’m good at will make a difference in Bellingham.” With the weather turning wet and colder, it has been decided to plan on a spring 2014 paint day. This will allow us as a neighborhood to prepare, working with the city to determine logistics for the day, a paint day strategy, and festivity preparations.  If you are interested in helping organize the day, contact Aaron. But for now, hurray for another step toward a successful paint day!

Green Light from the Arts Commission!

Good news! Last night the city’s art commission gave us “the green light” for our intersection art project. It now goes to the mayor for final approval. Now we need to discern if we can paint this fall or if we should wait for the spring. Pray for a long stretch of dry weather!

There will be some steps that need to take place before paint day. If you want to help with the process let us know. But for now, hurray for another step toward a successful paint day!
